I really like Ning Que. He's a man in his late teens, and he isn't a jerk. He raised a young woman by the same of Sang Sang while he was a little boy, and she was a baby. Why? She was one of few left behind while her village was wiped out, and at even that young of an age, he felt it was the right thing to do. He continues to take care of her, and does not act like she is in his way. He does not resent her. He is insistent on including her in as much as he can. She comes with him to escort the Princess to the Capital. He also wanted her to come with him to the Red Sleeve Invite, but she wasn't allowed.
While he may not be fond of the princess, he doesn't jerk her around. While he doesn't always behave formally around her, he doesn't treat her with disdain, either. He mainly makes it known where she stands with him, instead of pretending otherwise, just for a higher status.
He is determined to do well at Tang Academy, even though many have said he can't cultivate, so he shouldn't even try. He still does his best to find another way, and as of Episode 12 (which is where I'm at currently), he is on the verge of a break through. He is someone who is determined and imperfect, but he doesn't resort to being a jerk. He is fierce and protective, but there's always a justifiable reason. He hates bullies, and he's not one to turn his back on those who matter. For those reasons, he is one of my favorite male leads.
