The scene that inspired the fan art image

Chidi Nvzhi is the original God Of War in the Shuiyantian realm.  She has some very heavy responsibilities due to interfering in the mortal realm and bringing Lord Rong Hao back to life when he was a homeless and disabled child.  This is also where my opinion of events diverges a bit from other fandom members, however, in all fairness, none of the Asian languages, especially Mandarin, are my Native language.  So, bear with me!  The way I viewed it, both of her responsibilities were the price she had to pay for running interference in the Mortal realm.  So, we'll start with the first one, which most people don't generally see as part of what she owes for bringing Lord Rong Hao back to life (but I do). The first responsibility is that in order to save the world from profound turmoil, she has to sacrifice her own life, which causes 100,000 enemy Moon Tribe warriors to be sealed away for 30,000 years.  I felt that was the price she had to pay for resurrecting Lord Rong Hao.

However, others have mentioned that it's her 30,000 years worth of reincarnation, and then death at the hands of the relevant love of her life in each life time that is her punishment for interfering in the mortal realm.  I do feel that it is also that, but more as part of the fated path.  Since she revived Lord Rong Hao, he felt profoundly attached and in love with her, so when she died, he felt an intense sense of grief and loss.  In turn, that made him very vulnerable to the evil spirit Tai Sui, who exploited that vulnerability.  He made it known to Lord Rong Hao that he could reincarnate her if Rong Hao allowed him to interweave his spirit with hers.  And I had thought that the 30,000 years of terrible fates were part of that process in interweaving their spirits, but now I'm not sure if that was the original plan, and Tai Sui was simply extending beyond that, into a better life after the 30,000 years were completed.  Which gives me good reason to watch this show again very soon!  (I've watched it twice already, and I most certainly do not want to get tired of it just yet).

In this particular image that I have on my website

this is when she returned to Shuiyuntian after Orchid died, because the two beings cannot co-exist in the same realm for very long. And it's also Orchid's blood that made it possible for her to reincarnate beyond the 30,000 years of bad fates.  She is not supposed to be alive, and she suspects it.  Tai Sui's spirit is in control of her mind and body, making it difficult for her to be fully stable.   This is from the scene where she is practicing sword play with Lord Rong Hao, and she notices that not only is something off about herself, something is also off with him.  He's not the protege she remembered working with 30,000 years ago.

And that's when we begin to reach a turning point between Lord Rong Hao and Chidi Nvzhi.

Fan art for both of them is available at the link below.
