American Perspectives: Ning Que and Chen Pi Pi's friendship "Ever Night" Ep 17-19 Response

I am really enjoying the unlikely friendship that has developed between Chen Pi Pi and Ning Que.  They could both easily have so much disdain for each other.  

Chen Pi Pi is overweight and not as attractive as his peers.  Plus, he was able to get into the Tang Academy due to consuming the Heaven Channeling pill.  Which suggests that he was not born with his abilities.

Ning Que is essentially a glorified assassin.  He's from the lower classes of society, has no parents, and is living alone with a teenage girl as his maid servant.  He lacks social graces, and he initially didn't have cultivating abilities, either, until he took the Heaven Channeling pill.

I like their friendship because they are always helping each other out.  Chen Pi Pi clarifies Ning Que's studies, Ning Que provides him with his favorite treats.  What I really liked about Chen Pi Pi was that he kept Ning Que alive when no one else would.  He has hopes in Ning Que getting in to Two Story Building, and gives him tips on how to make it happen.  He could just as easily be very insecure and withhold the information, saving it for someone with a higher social standing who could benefit him in some way.  But he chooses not to because he is a great friend.  

And Ning Que isn't too concerned with being popular. To him, "Not being popular just means the wind you stirred up isn't strong enough." Popularity is an extremely trivial matter to him.  Something disposable that he can possibly worry about later, if at all.  I'm looking forward to seeing this friendship develop further.
