I got started on this at the same time as "Our Blooming Youth," because I feel it's good keeping my mind sharp to watch two very different dramas. From the get-go, I'm amazed by the stunning visuals that "Ever Night" has to offer. I started watching because of 王鶴棣/Dylan Wang, who will be in Season 2. Because I like to go from the very beginning so everything makes sense, I went ahead and started with Season 1. I love it! I enjoyed seeing the mix of Tang and Mongol Cultures. Ning Que and the lizard were a nice touch.
Action sequences were amazing. They weren't too long, and the martial arts choreography was brilliant. I was captivated right from the beginning when we were told that once every 1000 years, the Chinese version of Hades has an eternal night. I really love this mythological stuff when it's done well and not hastily thrown together.
I like how Ning Que is happy go lucky and fun! He's not that way toward the Princess (yet), but he also isn't cold hearted with sociopathic tendencies, which is a really nice change of pace. I'm definitely seeing a lot of promise with this show!
