I wrote about Lord Rong Hao a little bit earlier when I was updating you all on the fan art progress, but I thought I would talk about him a little bit more, as I had so much more to say, but was in a hurry to pick up my son from school.

I think Lord Rong Hao is a good example of someone vulnerable feeling extreme grief and loss being exploited by someone else for their own personal gain.  He is a good example of someone who maybe should have relied on his other friends in the immortal world, instead of isolating himself in his grief.

Chidi Nvzhi, the original god of war among the immortals, was not only his mentor, but someone whom he loved as so much more than that.  She was after all, his savior.  The only part of the story he knew was that Chidi Nvzhi had to die in order for the Immortal Realm to avoid being conquered.  What he does not know is that it is the price she agreed to pay in order to resurrect him when he was a blind mortal child, dead in the streets.

All he knows is that she died in order to subdue the invincible Dongfang Qingcang, and he profoundly hates him for that.  He hates the Immortals for taking her ultimate sacrifice for granted.  He wants her to "come home," but the problem is, when you're so blinded by emotion, it makes it profoundly difficult to see the whole story.

The evil spirit Tai Sui becomes aware of this immediately, and uses it to his full advantage.  Lord Rong Hao believes him when he says that he can bring Chidi Nvzhi back to life, as long as he fuses her spirit with Tai Sui's.  But, he also has to provide Tai Sui with the spirits of dead Immortals and Moon Tribe Members.  Because Lord Rong Hao is so emotionally vulnerable, he is not thinking this through, and he is irrationally believing that these actions are justfied.  Just as many people in the United States often do exceedingly questionable things, and because it's based on emotion, they also believe they are morally justified.

Because Lord Rong Hao so desperately wants Chidi Nvzhi to come back, he will do anything, including becoming something she most certainly went to great lengths to prevent him from evolving into. In order for her spirit to resurrect, she has to live as a mortal many times over, meeting the most hellish end possible, which is to be murdered by the love of her life during every life she has to live.  In his focus in bringing her back, he fails to see that this isn't benefitting anyone, except maybe for Tai Sui.

When she does return as an immortal, unsurprisingly, it's not the same.  She is corrupted by evil spirits and cannot function properly.  Lord Rong Hao is also corrupted by evil spirits, and is not carrying on her legacy as intended.  In the end, they die and transition together.  In his effort to handle his grief, he thought he could resurrect and keep her, but all it did was make everything so much worse.
