American Perspectives: Themes of Empowerment and Intelligence "Princess Agents" Ep. 7-9
I'm really enjoying the consistent theme of genuine empowerment for Chu Qiao. I like how she is able to fend for herself, and everyone else who comes to her aid is simply a nice extra, but usually unnecessary, as she has it all locked down.
For the themes of Episode 7-9, it was all about using your ability to make informed decisions in spite of other people trying to manipulate your thought process. Tying in with that, I'm beginning to see how Yuwen Yue could be a love interest. I'm still very much Team Yan Xun, however. But I suspect that he's going to remain the second lead. (Boo)!
Something that continues to bother me about this show is that damn bird. The obvious artificiality really undermines parts of this show because it is so obviously fake.
I also feel that even though Yuwen Yue has good intentions, he goes about them in a really shady way, which still makes him somewhat of a jerk.
I really appreciate Chu Qiao's intelligence. I like how she is always able to work her way through situations, even when it seems there's no way out. Especially when it involves the highly manipulative Jin Zhu and Yuwen Huai. We're getting more information about Chu Qiao's past as we progress, and her handling of the snow jade dog really seemed to bring more of that forward. I'm looking forward to seeing what direction this goes.
Seeing Jin Zhu get totally soaked after trying to frame Chu Qiao and her sisters was glorious. I really don't like her. Spoiler alert, she did die at the end of Episode 9, but I know that Chu Qiao's struggles are far from over. However, that gives the themes of empowerment and intelligence more time to shine!
