Ok, I just finished my 2nd viewing of "Love Between Fairy and Devil," and just like with the 1st time watching it, I didn't want it to end. This time around, though, it was easier to let it go. It wasn't deeply buried in my emotions this time. What an excellent drama!
Transitioning from something like "Love Between Fairy and Devil" to a different drama can be challenging. A great example is when I thought it would be a good idea to watch "Shine or Go Crazy" right after watching "Scarlet Heart: 려." (Terrible idea, it was very unsettling. I found that watching "Boys Over Flowers" after "Scarlet Heart: 려" was a much better transition).
So, I was having a hard time deciding what to watch next. Do I rewatch "Unchained Love"? Do I watch "Ever Night"? (I decided to wait because I did not want to get tired of watching 王鶴棣 just yet. Do I watch "풍 The 조선 Psychiatrist"? (I've been a bit hesitant about that one, as well).
I finally decided on "Princess Agents" because I had made some Chu Qiao merch per customer request, but I had never watched the show. At the time, I was hesitant about watching C-Dramas, as I wanted to stay entirely focused on K-Dramas. I'm also going to watch the 사극 "Our Blooming Youth" on alternating days because I find when I watch two different shows, I'm less likely to get distracted.
I've only watched Episode 1 of "Princess Agents" so far, and I really like it. I think the costumes, weapons, and martial arts look fantastic. The male lead isn't as good looking as 王鶴棣, but that's ok. Chu Qiao, the female lead doesn't appear to have a penchant for whining or excessive insecurity, so this is definintely showing potential. I generally don't like female leads in American television because there is a lot of whining, and excessive dialogue expressing insecurity and a need for validation from the sappy sisterhood. Yuck! (One of many reasons why I don't watch American television).
The CGI on the wolves could be better, but it's not a big deal, and the film speed can be a little weird in places, which makes the screen "jittery." Which I account for a cultural difference in filming and editing. No big deal. Other than that, I did most certainly enjoy the part where she killed the wolves!
So I'm definitely looking forward to Episode 2. I usually mainly watch 사극, but it was starting to get monotonous, so I included Chinese Historical and Fantasy dramas in the mix to reinvigorate things a bit!
