“Love and Redemption” can be viewed on Viki or Youtube . Dialogue adapted from English subtitle translations by "Destined Love Team at Viki.com." "Love and Redemption," is based on the novel "Liu Li Mei Ren Sha," by Shi Si Lang. The writings presented here are based on observations from the television series.
"Are you trying to revolt against me, General?" King Bailing asks the God of War.
"When are you going to stop lying to me?" God of War asks. "Tell me. What are these?" She pulls back her collar to reveal the scars from being stitched up into a completely different person. "Every single piece of my body, who put them together for me? Do you feel a tiny bit guilty about what you did to me?"
"God of War," says King Bailing.
"Shouldn't you call me Devil Maleficent? You conspired with the Southern Lord and used the Crystal Lamp of Southern Immortals to seal my soul! Now, I want you to explain yourself. Let me ask you! Where is my soul?"
"Isn't it good to be the God of War?" King Bailing deflects.
"Fine," says God of War. As she walks forward, the soldiers between her and King Bailing walk back. "All these years, I've lived in confusion. I didn't know where I was born, or where I came from. I had no name because you dare not mention it. I had no family or friends because you were afraid that I'd find out my origin. And I never had one single soldier under my command. You relied on my ability, and yet, you're scared of me. You're afraid that I'd recall everything, lead the army, and rebel against you! In fact, the reason I'm so different is that I'm not myself. No wonder I felt upset whenever I killed an Asura, because we came from the same clan! And you, King Bailing, ordered me to kill them all! Tell me. Why did you do that? Are you sure you can control me forever?" She raises her sword, and does a Kendo Dol strike through the air, generating a wave of electric blue energy, and knocking the barrier of soldiers over. The remaining point of the wave hits King Bailing, and he stumbles backward.
She stands right in front of him, no wall of soldiers to stop her now. "You deceived me into becoming the God of War. I have always trusted you. How dare you and the heavens use me like this?"
The Four Sacred Beasts and several soldiers materialize, surrounding her in a circle.
"God of War!" Lord Green Dragon yells. "You're being disobedient and rebellious! This is unpardonable!"
"What did I do wrong?" God of War asks defiantly. "You are the ones in the wrong! Ask the Heavenly Emperor to come and see me! If not, I will burn the heavens down!"
"Even though you're a brave general," says Vermillion Bird, "you shouldn't have barged into the Celestial Hall and screamed at King Bailing!"
"This Heaven," says God of War, "I can protect it, and I can kill it."
"How outrageous you are! Take her down!"
The Four Sacred Beasts draw their swords.
God of War holds the Dingkun Sword at a downward diagonal position, and blue lightning energy emits. The energy throws all the surrounding guards back.
God of War looks at King Bailing defiantly, making direct eye contact. She touches her left palm to the hilt of her sword. White lightning generates on the blade. She flies straight up like a rocket, and slices the air with a diagonal kendo men strike. Her attackers are sent falling to the ground.
With a sweep of his hand, King Bailing blocks the wave of God of War's energy.
"Bailing," says God of War, "I want you to explain yourself today!"
As she is about to move forward, King Bailing summons the Crystal Lamp, and it levitates between them. With his fingers, he shoots blue energy into the lamp. The aura it generates weakens the God of War, and sends her to her knees. She grabs her heart, but stabilizes herself by stabbing her sword into the ground. She looks up at him balefully.
"Bailing, just you wait. I will definitely take it back."
"God of War! Enough!"
"Stop calling me the God of War! I will not let you go! I will kill you! I will kill all of you rats and avenge myself!"
King Bailing applies more energy to the crystal lamp, sending God of War reeling.
"The God of War is attempting a rebellion and revolting against the realm!" King Bailing declares. "Escort her to the Altar of Banishment at once!"
Devil Star awakens underwater from the series of flashbacks, while Sifeng continues to sink. He immediately swims to Sifeng, and together they shoot straight up through the dark clouds. They land in front of the Heavenly Soldiers.
"Yu Sifeng, do you see this?" Devil Star asks. "This is the heavens that you wanted to protect. They remain despicable, and they don't keep their word. They'll keep spouting lies."
Sifeng kneels and grasps his heart while the Devil Star walks forward.
"Heaven and Earth are the furnace, his copper, all things of creation. In that case, let's throw everyone into the furnace for reformation. Today, I am going to kill everyone in the heavens. I shall reorder the three realms." The Devil Star states.
Sifeng shakes his head, but Devil Star ignores him.
"Do you all think you can guard this Sea of Life and Death?" A purple and black cloud of smoke generates from Devil Star's hand. "Yu Sifeng, just stay behind the barrier." A light purple dome envelopes Sifeng.
"No!" Sifeng begs.
"...And watch how I kill them," Devil Star continues. His red cape flies behind him as he rushes forward, generating a wave of purple energy, and knocking down the guards.
"No," says Sifeng.
Devil Star looks up at the entrance to the heavens, and sees a white vase hanging from the gateway. With the pink energy from the palm of his hand, he shoots it at the vase. It overturns, and sucks away a thick blue cloud of smokey energy.
The thick dark clouds below Yuan Lang and his waiting men vanishes. Yuan Lang grins. "The Sea of Life and Death has receded! Listen, my fellow tribes! Let us storm the heavens!"
Yuan Lang flies up, and the men cheer as the run behind him down below.
The five friends have smoothly made it through Kaiming Gate. They are walking through a beautiful, idyllic forest.
"Look," Wu Zhiqi points. "That's the Heavenly Emperor's manor." A gorgeous, high waterfall looms ahead of them.
Yuan Lang's men, all in black, gleefully storm the Heavenly Palace. Yuan Lang completely feels like a man again, instead of an emasculated, petulant, teenage boy. He finally has a purpose.
A golden bell moves quickly through the air, and the heavenly guards are struck down by it like a house of cards. More guards make a run for the Devil Star, but with as much ease as smashing a bug, he repels them. He flies over the swarm of soldiers, his trailing energy knocking each and every one of them over. He looks up and sees the very grand staircase to King Bailing's ostentatious palace.
"Bailing," Devil Star says ominously. "I'm here."
Yuan Lang and the demonic soldiers charge. Vermillion Bird, White Tiger, Black Tortoise, and Lord Green Dragon emerge.
Amidst the distraction, Devil Star makes his way to King Bailing's palace entry, coming across the same barrier as Sifeng, that determines heavenly entry. Devil Star looks at the barrier, and eyes the Chinese characters. He shoots red energy from his palm, and the barrier disintegrates. As he walks up the stairs, Teng She materializes in the archway at the top.
"Niss! You can't go any further! You can't destroy the Transcendent Furnace!" Teng She says. "And I won't allow you to talk the Stinky Woman into doing evil!"
"You must obey me because you are Chu Xuanji's spirit beast."
Teng She sighs and snakes his head.
"Otherwise, you will be punished," says Devil Star.
"The stinky woman is my one and only master," says Teng She. "You are not. Let her out now!"
Devil Star chuckles. "You used to be the spirit beast of Chu Xuanji. I'm not going to kill you, but that doesn't mean you have the right to talk to me. Scram!" He bends his arm, and red energy generates. He slices through the air with his arm, sending Teng She rolling aerially before he disappears in a poof of red energy.
Devil Star descends the stairs, and walks through King Bailing's precious archway.
He walks across the paved path over the pond to the white shelter where King Bailing had betrayed him. King Bailing slowly turns around to face him. "Brother Maleficent, you're here. I remember we once promised that we'd drink and talk everyday. I didn't expect in just a short while, a thousand years have passed. Since we're gathering here today, why don't we catch up, so as to fulfill our promise of that year?"
"Do you think I'll still believe what you say, Bailing?" His hand slices through the air, generating black energy. It reverberates through the shelter.

They are at King Bailing's throne, and Devil Star is standing just behind the pool in the middle of the floor. Several different clones of King Bailing are levitating above him.
"Brother Maleficent," King Bailing taunts, "can't you even catch up with me?"
"A cup of wine crippled me a thousand years ago," says Devil Star. "If you were me, would you drink such wine again?"
"You worry too much," says King Bailing. "Brother Maleficent, you're always on my mind. That's why I came to advise you. For the sake of our friendship from the heavens to the mortal realm, stop it."
Devil Star grunts. King Bailing cannot be serious. "Bailing, you lie too much. That's why you're deceiving yourself. Have you ever looked down at your hands? They're full of Chu Xuanji's blood, the blood of the God of War, and mine. It's not dry yet. All you want is a marionette you can control. Today, I am going to take revenge against this blood feud!" He opens his palm downward, generating black energy. He moves his hand upward, making a backhand motion, disintegrating all of the King Bailing clones.
"I've been trying to save you for a thousand years," King Bailing insists, "but I can't get rid of your murderous thoughts." A hologram of King Bailing appears in the sky. "It seems that Asuras are incurably murderous." King Bailing's clones reappear. "Forget it! Look! What is this?" He moves his hand, and a mirror appears in front of him.
Devil Star squints his eyes. "Mirror of 36 Heavenly Spirits?"
"That's right," says King Bailing. "The Mirror of 36 Heavenly Spirits restrains all kinds of demons, and gets rid of all kinds of evil thoughts."
Or, as some would call it, brainwashing.
"Today, I am going to capture you with it," King Bailing continues. "I hope you will abandon your murderous thoughts and repent." King Bailing and the clones shoot white energy into their mirrors with open palms. A big mirror forms overhead in the sky.
Devil Star crosses his arms, and sharply brings them down into a low-v formation. A haze of black energy emits, forming a protective dome over the Devil Star. He laughs bitterly because King Bailing is so full of crap that he genuinely believes his own lies. "Bailing, in the Sea of Life and Death, I saw thousands of Asuras who were killed. They've been tortured by hatred for thousands of years, and they've looked forward to avenging themselves. You want us to abandon the murderous thoughts and repent?" Thick streams of black energy flow from his hand. "Today, I will let them ask you this. When will you reap what you sow?" He puts one hand on top of the other, and then flips both hands over. He sharply raises them up to shoulder level, and straightens out his arms, generating thick, dark blue smoke. It flies upward, crashing against his barrier.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the raging battle, Sifeng remains trapped in the barrier Devil Star created for him. He moves his palm across the front of the barrier, and it disappears. He places one hand above the other, palms facing each other, and a golden orb forms between them. He takes a deep breath, as his insides feel like they are being torn to shreds.
The Demons and the Sacred Beasts attack each other relentlessly. Like a whirling ice skater, Teng She spins his way through the fight and materializes in front of a demon warrior. Teng She punches him squarely in the jaw, golden energy emitting from his fist. The demon falls backward, landing squarely on his butt, breaking up two dueling soldiers in the process.
Yuan Lang has one arm spread out on each side in a T-formation. Blue lightning generates from his hands, and he has one heavenly soldier suspended on each side, experiencing the painful energy. He draws his fists into his chest, and brings his arms straight out to his sides. The heavenly soldiers disintegrate.
Devil Star's barrier disappears, and the dark blue smoke energy moves upward, shattering the mirrors used by King Bailing and his clones. King Bailing scowls, and he's been completely caught off guard.
"Next, it's your turn," says Devil Star.
"Devil Star," King Bailing unsuccessfully tries to conceal his fear, "so what if you manage to destroy the mirror? This is the Heavenly Central Hall where the strongest of Heaven's Law lies. You can't even figure out where I am. Don't you act outrageously here!"
"I know you're being protected by Heaven's Law," says Devil Star, "and you think I can't hurt you. But what a pity. Heaven's Law was made when the world was created. As long as I overturn the Transcendent Furnace, and rewrite the rules, you won't be able to hide yourself."
"What a boaster you are!" King Bailing retorts. "The Transcendent Furnace is the root of the three realms. There is no way you can find it!"
"Is it?" Devil Star inquires. "You seem to have forgotten I was once the God of War of the heavens." He crosses his hands in front of his face, black smoke teeming from his palms. His palms face each other, he slowly pulls his hands apart, and the God of War materializes.
Fuck.
The God of War looks up at King Bailing coldly. Black smoke streams upward from her silver armor. "I happen to know how to make it show itself." She flies upward.
King Bailing feels like he's going to shit himself. Why the hell didn't I remember this? I'm fucked.
God of War aims her hand downward, emitting super thick black smoke, and fires into the pool down below. A beautiful golden fire forms in the pool, covering the entire interior. White smoke rings float up.
"Stop it!" King Bailing futiley demands.
A huge vase begins to appear, as if the fiery pool down below is giving birth.
"Stop it now!" King Bailing shouts. He shoots white energy at the vase, but God of War counterattacks, and her force pushes King Bailing back. She moves her hand across her face, and huge balls of fire begin to bomb the earth, setting entire cities on fire.
Sifeng continues to generate his golden orb, while the Demon Army and Heavenly Soldiers continue to battle.
In all the scuffling, Vermillion Bird and White Tiger's swords strike against each other. They use the moment to their advantage. They keep their swords crossed, swing downward, and shoot the combined electric energy at the demons. Green Dragon knocks down demons with blue energy. Yuan Lang knocks down Heavenly Soldiers with the purple energy from his fan. He hurls an additional ball of energy at a group of Heavenly Soldiers, knocking them over like bowling pins.
Teng She kicks, blocks, and grabs. He gets one demon soldier by the ankle, and he spins him around, knocking down every demon in his path. He throws the demon to the ground, and punches another demon in the face. He flies forward and up like a superhero, with his fist pointing forward.
Sifeng looks up at King Bailing's palace, and hears the lightning. He has a feeling this isn't going to end well.
Lord Green Dragon anxiously looks in the same direction.
The archway of the Heavenly Entrance begins to crumble.
"Xuanji," whispers Sifeng. He and Lord Green Dragon run forward. The other soldiers run back, avoiding the falling rubble.
A huge group of soldiers materializes in a circle around Little Six, Linglong, Wu Zhiqi, Brother Liu, and Ruo Yu.
"Who are you who've trespassed Mount Kunlun?" A white haired elder asks. "It's outrageous of you to come to Xi Wangmun's backyard."
Wu Zhiqi defiantly crosses his arms.
"If you disturb the Heavenly Emperor's rest," the elder continues, "Heavenly Punishment will be meted out to you."
Linglong bows. "Heavenly Officer, we came all the way out here to report something to the Heavenly Emperor."
The elder points at Linglong. "You're mouthy. Kick them out to the Mortal Realm."
"Yes!" The solders bow and point their spears.
"Off to the Mortal Realm?" Brother Liu asks incredulously. He points at the elder. "We walked a long way! It took a lot of effort to come up here!"
"What are you waiting for?" Asks the elder. "Take all of them down!"
"Old Fogey, aren't you being unreasonable?" Wu Zhiqi asks. He steps in front of the spears. "Bring it on, then!"
Linglong rushes over and grabs his arm. "We're here to beg the Heavenly Emperor. We can't act recklessly."
"But do we let them send us back to the Mortal Realm?" Little Six asks.
"Since he said that we can't disturb the Heavenly Emperor," says Linglong, "we will then..." she looks at Wu Zhiqi.
"Oh," says Wu Zhiqi. He looks at Brother Liu. Brother Liu smiles.
"Heavenly Emperor!" The five yell.
"Old Heavenly Emperor, come out!"
"Heavenly Emperor, we're here to see you!"
"Heavenly Emperor!"
"Come out!"
"Heavenly Emperor!"
The Elder sputters, and tries to silence them.
"We would like to see the Heavenly Emperor!"
"Come out and see us!"
"Come out now!"
"Save us!"
"Take all of them down!" The elder growls to his soldiers.
"We want to see the Heavenly Emperor!"
"Come out, Heavenly Emperor!"
The guards put their spears back in an upright position. Everyone looks toward the waterfall.
A holographic form of the Heavenly Emperor stands above them. "Lord Xuan Huo, let them see me."
Lord Xuan Huo (the grumpy elder) bows. "Heavenly Emperor, but they--"
The holographic image disappears.
In front of the Heavenly Emperor's waterfall is a large hologram of a Go board. Heavenly Emperor is maneuvering one of the black pieces. He meticulously places it on the board.
"Heavenly Emperor, they are here," says Lord Xuan Huo.
"Hmm," says Heavenly Emperor, his back turned to the group. He takes a game piece off the board, and aims his golden energy at Wu Zhiqi. It streams into his head. Another stream goes into Little Six's forehead. The other three also get hit by separate golden streams.
"We have two mortals, two Rose Gold Birds, and a Demon Monkey," says Heavenly Emperor. "What are you here for?"
Linglong bows. "Heavenly Emperor, we're all family and friends of Chu Xuanji. We came all the way to Mount Kunlun to ask for your help."
Heavenly Emperor turns around and faces them. "Chu Xuanji? Ah. That lass who's the reincarnation of the God of War. I remember that her power of the God of War has awakened. The mortal realm is now invincible. What else can I do for her?"
"The Crystal Lamp has been opened," says Linglong. "Xuanji has become the Devil Star, Devil Maleficent. He's going to lead the demons and attack the heavens, and he wants to reshape the three realms. You must save the three realms, please. And save Xuanji!"
"It is true that one reaps what one sows," says Heavenly Emperor. "The time has finally come." He looks back at the Go board.
"Heavenly Emperor," says Little Six, "why are you still playing Go?"
"Because I have yet to figure out this game."
"Heavenly Emperor," says Brother Liu. "The three realms are going to be ruined. Aren't you worried?"
"I once advised Bailing against it, but he insisted on doing so. Thus, what is happening has come. Everyone from the three realms is all in this calamity. It's kind of you to worry about the people. But Heaven's Law made me Heavenly Emperor. I must obey the law. Without a chance, I can't interfere with the fate of the three realms. You should leave."
"What is a chance?" Linglong asks. "We came all the way out here to see you. Now that's a chance. Both the mortal realms and sects are fighting against the Heaven Fire and rescuing the people. That, too, is a chance. Yu Sifeng came to the mortal realm because of Xuanji. That's more of a chance. I think surely you know his name in the heavens, Xi Xuan."
Heavenly Emperor looks at Linglong.
"He is trying his best to save the three realms," Linglong continues. "We are doing the same thing. So is everyone else. And you're not doing anything about it. Chance? That's just an excuse!"
"Xi Xuan is as persistent as he was," says Heavenly Emperor. "Lass, you're right, but this is their chance, not mine."
Wu Zhiqi rolls his eyes and sighs.
"Chance is not predictable," Heavenly Emperor continues, "and yet the heart is. I am holding a black stone and solving this end game. It is the chance I have. If I manage to win this game, that means my chance is here. But you see, now the white stones are more than the black stones. This shows that my chance is still far away."
"Fine," says Linglong. "Since you're helping us only if the black stones win, I'll help you solve this game, then." She crosses her arms in front of her face at the wrist. She has her index and middle fingers pointed on both hands, generating blue energy. She drags her arms across in opposite directions, and points her left arm forward, and wipes her left hand across the air. All of the stones turn black. Lord Xuan Huo looks at her incredulously.
Heavenly Emperor looks back at the board.
"Now that the chessboard is full of black stones," says Linglong, "you won."
"How dare you!" Lord Xuan Huo growls. "How outrageous you are! How dare you spoil Xi Wangmu's endgame! Hurry and take down this disobedient lass!"
"Interesting," says Heavenly Emperor. "It is truly interesting." The board begins to disintegrate. "It was an unsolveable end game. And the ink has dyed the white stones black. It is against the rules to call this a victory, but it cannot be called a defeat, since the board is full of black stones. Perhaps I didn't realize that because I was so involved in the game. And you thought outside the box, and that's the solution."
Linglong smiles. Brother Liu and Wu Zhiqi exchange glances of approval.
"Fine, I'll come with you," Heavenly Emperor concedes.
"Thank you, Heavenly Emperor!" The five friends bow.
Heavenly Emperor disappears in a streak of golden energy. The Five friends soon disappear in the golden energy, as well.
"Heavenly Emperor!" Lord Xuan Huo calls. "Heavenly Emperor, what about me? How do I go back?"
A soldier behind him bows. "My Lord, what do we do?"
"What else can we do?" Lord Xuan Huo asks. "The solution is to jump out of the game. Let's walk back." He can't help but chuckle.
