American Perspectives: Sifeng's 10 Reincarnations Pt. 2 ("Love and Redemption" Ep. 27)

As Ting Nu works to break the hold from the Mirror of Origin, the mole in the bottom corner of Sifeng's left eye begins to glow.

"Wake up!"  Ting Nu yells.

Xuanji sees her life pillar cracking in the Mirror of Origin.  "Will you stop lying to me?"  The God of War asks.  

She is chained up on the podium, electric blue fire emitting from the chains on her arms and ankles.  "What sins have I committed?  You have no right to judge me!  I was a joke in the heavens all along!"

Present day Xuanji covers her ears.

"And you want me to become an immortal again?"  Rages the God of War.  "What a joke!  I would rather become a demon!  Become a demon!"

King Bailing uses a force of energy to strike The God of War in the chest.  She falls back and covers her ears.

Xuanji covers her ears and screams.

A blue bolt of lightning drives through the God of War's chest.

Xuanji screams again, in unison with the God of War.

"I'll wipe out this unfair realm!"  Declares God of War.

Under the ray of the Mirror of Origin, Xuanji floats upward, knocking Ting Nu to the ground.

Ting Nu sits up and notices blue smoke emanating from Xuanji's body, the Dingkun Sword suspended in front of her.

 

 

 

In the Immortal Realm, Si Ming runs to the God of War's life pillar.  "This is bad!"  Her powers are awakening!"  He swings his arms in a circle, and pushes silvery energy into the pilar.

 

 

The God of War continues to be chained to the podium, and a fiery bird flies in front of her, blazing wings fully extended.  His energy knocks the guards over.

His golden wings shield her from further harm.  Xuanji does not see his full face, as his hair is distorting him.  Therefore, she is not aware that the golden, fiery bird is someone she knows very well.

 

 

Teng She is standing in front of the podium where God of War's armor is proudly on display.  "God of War summoned her armor?"  He whispers.  "I'll definitely find you if I follow your armor."  He holds up a compass with a pentagram imprint.

The pieces of God of War's armor travel through the heavens at light speed.

While Xuanji is under Mirror of Origin's ray of light, her armor conforms to her, piece by piece.  Her eyes are wide open, and bright blue.  She puts the Dingkun Sword in position.  She aims her sword downward, and a huge wave of blue energy pushes outward.

Little Silver Flower, Little Six, Ruo Yu, and Brother Liu come running into the underground lair.

"Sifeng!  Sifeng!"  Little Silver Flower shouts.

"Xuanji!"  Shouts Little Six.

"Sifeng!" Yells Little Silver Flower.

Xuanji is high above them all, in her full God of War armor.

"What's wrong with Xuanji?"  Gasps Little Six.

"Sifeng!" calls Ruo Yu.

Xuanji's eyes close, as if sleeping.

Brother Liu looks up at her.  "It's true!  Xuanji is..."

"What?" asks Ruo Yu.  "Why is this happening to her?"

"Tell us what's wrong with Xuanji," Little Six presses.

Brother Liu points at Xuanji impatiently.  "Xuanji, she's the reincarnation of the God of War!"

"God of War?"  The other three ask.

"She's the God of War who wiped out the Asuras 1,000 years ago," says Ruo Yu.

"And now her powers are awakening," says Ting Nu.

"So, the general in her dreams is not a dream at all," says Little Six.  "It was her all along."

 

Si Ming is pushing every last bit of energy into the life pillar to prevent Xuanji's transformation.  "I'm done for!  I can't hold on!"

 

Ting Nu looks up at Xuanji, and notices Sifeng's and Fox Demon's blood is drifting out of their bodies.

"Sifeng!" Cries Little Silver Flower. 

 

The black clouds roll, and lightning strikes.

Hao Chen sees the lightning in the window.  "Heavenly Lightning?  So, it's in that direction."

 

"The God of War's anguish is devouring their vitality," Ting Nu explains.  "Hurry and save them!"

"How do we save them?"  Asks Brother Liu.

"Chu Xuanji, I'll kill you if you dare to hurt Sifeng!" Yells Little Silver Flower.

"Use the Spell of Tranquility!" Shouts Little Six.  He spreads his arms out, and Little Silver Flower joins in.  They each cross their hands, and turn their palms up, emitting blue energy.

Purple energy emits from Ting Nu's palm, and he aims it at Xuanji.

Brother Liu rolls his eyes.  "Eee sha!"  He reluctantly proceeds to join  in on the Spell of Tranquility, and shoots blue energy from his fingers towards Xuanji.

 

"My King," says Si Ming from the Immortal Realm, "I'm afraid that I can't follow your orders.  It seems like I will be sacrificed, as well!"  He begins to struggle.  "I'll fight until the end!"  He spins around and shoots two thick streams of silvery energy into the pillar.

 

A dome of fiery energy surrounds Xuanji/The God of War.

"What is that?"  Asks Brother Liu.

God of War stirs.  Sifeng and Fox Demon continue to bleed.

"That's the power of the heavens," says Ting Nu.  "Someone is trying to stop the God of War's awakening."

The God of War's eyes open, a brilliant blue.  She crosses her arms, and uses blue energy to bust the dome.

The energy draining Sifeng and Fox Demon dissipates.

"Sifeng!"  Yells Little Silver Flower.

"Who dares to hinder me?"  Yells the God of War.  "Those who hinder me, will die!"  Green energy engulfs everyone in the God of War's presence.  They all levitate.

"Xuanji, stop!" says Ruo Yu.

They all begin to spit blood.

 

Hao Chen is sailing through the stormy clouds.

 

If this continues, Sifeng will die!  Brother Liu thinks.  Everyone else, will die as well.  But if I shatter the mirror, and stop her awakening, I won't be able to save Yu'er.

"Sifeng!  Sifeng!" Calls Little Silver Flower.

"I can't hold on for much longer!" says Ruo Yu.

With multiple motions of his hands, Brother Liu opens the Celestial Eye on his forehead.  Gold energy shoots out, aiming toward the mirror.

The God of War continues to draw her power from everyone else.

 

"I will fight to the end!" Si Ming shouts as he adds more energy to the life pillar.  At the same time, Brother Liu is adding more energy from his Celestial Eye.

The mirror shatters and falls to the ground.  Everyone in the underground lair collapses to the floor.

 

 

 

The Heavenly Lightning has dissipated, Hao Chen thinks.  It's nearby.  I'm sure I can find Xuanji around here.  He sails quickly through the clouds.

 

 

 

Teng She opens his compass with the pentagram imprint, in an attempt to figure out the location of God of War's missing armor.  The needle is spinning quickly.  It finally stops, and Teng She takes a look.  He snaps the compass shut.  He walks out to the balcony overlooking the clouds.

"God of War," says Teng She.  "Hmm...I'll have a good fight with you."

A green scarf wraps around his neck like a collar, while the tail end of it pulls him away like a leash, putting him in the arms of Lord Green Dragon.

"Which scoundrel is..." says Teng She.  He sniffs the air.  "What is this?  You stink!"  He turns his head and looks at a laughing Lord Green Dragon.

"You stole my star compass," says Lord Green Dragon.  "Where are you trying to go?"

Teng She is trying not to barf.  "Gah!  Green Dragon, you shouldn't malign me.  I lost the Dingkun Sword last time because of your interruption!  And now, I've lost the armor, as well.  The God of War will awaken soon.  It's a huge matter.  You can't afford to bear responsibility for this!

"Armor?" asks Lord Green Dragon.  He looks to the right.  "Isn't it right here?"

"Are you blind?" Asks Teng She.  He lightly punches Lord Green Dragon in the chest.  "You better..."

Lord Green Dragon turns him to the right.  And sure enough, there's the armor, glistening in the sun.  Teng She points at it, but he can't get himself to speak.

"Eh?"  Lord Green Dragon looks over at him.

"It wasn't there just now," Teng She insists.

Lord Green Dragon nods his head and smiles.

"Ay ya.  I don't care.  It's such a big matter.  I need to go and check it out.  Sss," he walks away from Lord Green Dragon, forgetting about the long scarf wrapped around his neck.

"You can't go," says Lord Green Dragon.  He pats Teng She on the shoulder.

"Why?"  Asks Teng She.  "The God of War will awaken soon.  Who are you to stop me?"

"I'm stopping you under King Bailing's order.  He ordered me to keep an eye on you, and stop you from involving yourself with the God of War.  You better follow me back."

Teng She throws his hands up.  "I don't believe you, and you'll never control me!"  He turns to walk away.  "Gahh!" He is abruptly stopped by the scarf around his neck.

Lord Green Dragon smirks and pulls on the long end of the scarf like it's a leash.  Teng She is trying to pull it off his neck.

 

 

 

"Sifeng!"  Yells Little Silver Flower.  

Ruo Yu, Little Silver Flower, and Little Six rush to his unconscious body.

Ruo Yu sits him up.

"Sifeng, please wake up," says Little Silver Flower.

"Xuanji!"  Little Six helps her sit up.  "Xuanji..."

"Ting Nu, what's going on?"  Asks Brother Liu.  "When will they wake up?"

"Their primordial spirits have returned to their bodies," says Ting Nu.  "They are in shock due to the impact of the explosion.  They'll be fine after some rest."

Brother Liu looks over at Xuanji and frowns.  Her awakening isn't complete.  What will happen to Yu'er?

"What's Liu Yihuan doing?"  Yuan Lang asks Wolf.  They're standing on the rooftop of the abandoned house, waiting for God of War to emerge.  "He actually used his celestial eye to interrupt her awakening?"

Wolf bows his head.  "My Lord, since we know the identity of the God of War now, why don't you let me capture Chu Xuanji right now?  When she awakens her power, you may absorb it by using the Soul Furnace, and everything will go according to your plan.  Isn't that for the best?"

"Chu Xuanji is very stubborn," says Yuan Lang.  "If we capture her by force, she may respond violently, and the God of War may never complete her awakening.  If so, her powers will reduce drastically.  I can't take this risk.  I do have to find a way to stimulate her to awaken her powers.  Tell Liu Yihuan that if he wants his daughter to stay alive, he must follow my orders."

Wolf bows his head.  "Yes."

 

 

 

Little Six, Ruo Yu, Brother Liu, and Ting Nu are at the Inn, watching over Xuanji, who is sound asleep. 

Brother Liu sighs.  Betray his friends to save his daughter?  Save his friends, and put his daughter in jeopardy?  And what fate is his daughter going to face?

Xuanji gasps, and sits straight up.

"Xuanji, you're awake?"  Asks Little Six.

"I...you..."  Xuanji says frantically.

"Xuanji!"  Ting Nu smiles at her.

"All of you are here?"  Asks Xuanji.  "This is great."

"Of course we're here," says Little Six.  He wrings out a wet washcloth.  "Wipe your face."

She reaches for the cloth, and recoils from the heat.

"What's wrong?"  Asks Little Six.

"It's hot," Xuanji stammers.

Little Six smiles and chuckles.  "It's hot?  Did you recover your six senses?  This is great!  If it's too hot, I'll cool it down for you."

Ting Nu smiles at her.

"It's fine," says Xuanji.  "It's not that hot.  I feel warm and comfortable."  She puts the washcloth between her hands, and she then puts it on her neck.

"Xuanji," says Ruo Yu, "what exactly did you see in that mirror?"

Xuanji slowly puts the wash cloth down.  "I saw my past."

"Were you the God of War in the past?"  Asks Little Six.

Xuanji nods.

"Xuanji is the God of War indeed!"  Exclaims Little Six.  "My Junior, who was talentless before, is actually someone that great?  No wonder the Demon Whip was destroyed."

Ting Nu smiles.

"I thought it was the power of the Dingkun Sword," says Ruo Yu.  "I didn't expect it to be Xuanji's power."

"There's more to that!"  Little Six lightly slaps him on the arm.  "Gudiao on Mount Lutai, Aoyin on Mount Haiwan, and the Samadhi Fire on Mount Gao, as well."

Xuanji closes her eyes.

"I was worried for nothing," Little Six continues.  "I thought she was posessed or something.  I wouldn't need to worry if I knew that she was the reincarnation of the God of War.  Xuanji, tell us.  How does it feel to be the God of War?  It must've been great, right?"

"I hate it very much," Xuanji whispers.

Ruo Yu and Little Six exchange glances.

"I hate the God of War," says Xuanji.  "I hate my past.  I hate the heavens.  I hate everything inside the mirror.  I only see blood, wars, and lies.  Everything else was cold."

"They cheated you?"  Little Six asks.  "Are you referring to the heavens?"

Xuanji puts her hand on the side of her head.  "I don't know what happened, either.  I just..."  She rocks back and forth.  "I just saw that I was chained, and I was suffering so much.  But none of them wanted to listen to me.  All of them wanted me to leave."

Ting Nu looks down knowingly.

"The Human Realm is better," says Xuanji.  "Here, I have you.  You are there for me.  I feel alive down here."

"Xuanji, it's over now," says Little Six.  "It's all in the past.  But I didn't expect my Junior to be the God of War.  If people knew about this, Shaoyang Sect  would become glorious."

"We mustn't tell anyone about this," Ting Nu disagrees.  "Tianxu Hall is trying to revive the Devil Star, and the nemesis of the Devil Star is the God of War.  We should keep quiet so that Tianxu Hall won't try to target her."

"That's right," says Little Six.  "I'm so dumb.  We need to keep this a secret."

"Xuanji, did you see Sifeng in the mirror?"  Asks Ruo Yu.

"That's right," Little Six agrees.  "Sifeng said all nine of his tribulations were related to you."

"His nine tribulations?"  Asks Xuanji.  "I didn't see any tribulations.  I only saw what happened to me in the heavens."

"Oh my," Brother Liu says sarcastically.

Xuanji looks over at him sadly.

"The Mirror of Origin reflects the past that we couldn't let go of," Brother Liu continues.  "Little Phoenix saw you because he couldn't let you go.  You didn't see him?  That means he's not inside your heart."  Brother Liu rolls his eyes.

Xuanji gasps.

"I was blind," says Brother Liu.  "I even wanted to help you two be together.  Now, I think you should stay far away from him."

"No!" Says Xuanji.  "Eldest Brother Liu, that's not the case!  What exactly happened in the mirror?"

"How would we know what's going on inside the mirror?"  Asks Brother Liu.  "We only saw Little Phoenix coughing blood because he was too depressed.  It's unlucky if he encounters this once.  Three times?  May he's trying to atone for his sins.  But he died nine times because of you.  I think you are just not meant for each other.  I beg you, show him some mercy this time.  Just let him off."

Xuanji gasps from the pain in her heart.

"Xuanji?"  Asks Little Six.  "Xuanji, what's wrong?"

"I don't know what's going on either," says Xuanji.  "I just...I feel bad when I hear about Sifeng's suffering.  I feel like I can't breathe."

Brother Liu chuckles sarcastically.  "You can't breathe?  Seems like you do have your six senses back.  You know how to care for people now."

She throws off the bed covers.  "Oh, right," she stands up.  "Eldest Brother Liu, where's Sifeng?  Where's Sifeng?"

Brother Liu turns away from her.  "I don't know.  Maybe he left because he was too sad."

Xuanji runs out of the room.

"Xuanji!"  Calls Little Six.

"Xuanji!"  Calls Ruo Yu.

Little Six looks over at Brother Liu.  "Why did you say those things?"

"I'm telling the truth," says Brother Liu.  "Don't you know Little Phoenix well enough?  He won't tell anyone about his suffering and pain.  If I don't tell her, how would she care for him?"  Brother Liu shakes his head.

 

 

 

Sifeng is out at the dock.   He has vivid memories of what he saw in the mirror, and his emotions are extremely turbulent.

"Sifeng!  Sifeng!"  Xuanji is running through the village marketplace.  "Sifeng!  Sifeng!"

He is waiting in front of a boat, ready to leave it all behind.

When Xuanji finally spots him, she runs onto the dock.  She breathes a sigh of relief.
