Episode 31 of Love Between Fairy and Devil

Episode 31 of "Love Between Fairy and Devil" really broke my heart, as we saw the deep love between Dongfang Qingcang and Orchid develop very deeply, to feel it right alongside with them, only to have it taken away.  I didn't think that would upset me so much, but it did.

It made my heart hurt seeing Dongfang pretend to not love her, and to lie and say he was exploiting her.  I did almost believe for a moment that maybe he was exploiting her this whole entire time, but then I remembered with all the suffering he did right alongside her, that most certainly wasn't the case.

 

Watching Orchid choosing to sacrifice her life, and Dongfang Qingcang being unable to do anything about it was extremely heart wrenching.  But the real kicker was at the end of this episode when her death traumatized him so much that he ended up in a coma, and within his coma dream, he is dreaming that Orchid and himself have been happily married for 500 years.  That was really painful and tragic to watch.  And that also tells me that the script writers did their job well, as they were able to have the viewer feel the pain right alongside the characters.  I'm looking forward to Episode 32 tomorrow, but I'm a little bit afraid, as I know it is inevitable that the Goddess Xishan (Fairy Orchid's original form) and Dongfang Qingcang will be having the obligatory time apart.  I just hope it isn't for too long, but I have a feeling that they won't be back together until the final episode, which will be Episode 36.
