"Pina Colada Fairy" Work in Progress

When this is finished the "Pina Colada Fairy" will be a two piece 한복 set consisting of a long Pineapple Print 저고리, and a light blue 치마.  The palm trees are upside down on the side that crosses over, as it is made from a repurposed, transparent polyester curtain.  Because all the palm trees went one way, and the fabric was folded when the pieces were cut (so that two pieces could be cut at once), there will be places where the palm trees will be upside down.  So, I decided to call it the "Pina Colada Fairy" for that reason.  The palm trees were upside down and in an odd place, just like someone may be when they have had too much to drink.

Preparing the 저고리 fabric for the "Pina Colada Fairy."

Preparing the fabric for the 치마 of the "Pina Colada Fairy."  It is a light blue, very soft, very light weight polyester cotton.  It is also a repurposed fabric.

 

Ironing the front parts of the 저고리 where the 깃 will be sewn on, and where it will open up in the front.  This makes for a smoother look when adding the 깃, and this keeps the edges that aren't connected to a seam, smooth.

Completed 치마.  It is different from most in that it ties easily and conveniently in the front, so there is no fussing around with any ties in the back, no fussing around with smoothly fitting your ties through any slots without them getting all twisted and tangled.  Sturdy coverage on shoulders, back, and breast to ensure no slippage, no exposure, guarantee of staying on, no need to reassure yourself that it hasn't slipped below the bust line.  Also has full coverage on shoulders, back, and breast, so it can be easily worn separately as a sundress or swimsuit cover up.
