American Perspectives: The Indestructible Dong Yue ("Twisted Fate of Love" Ep 1-2)

Because Wen Xin/Dong Yue (who will now be referred to as Dong Yue from here on out) knows her true identity, and she knows Feng Xi's significance in the upcoming rebellion that is to occur within the year, she is dead set on undermining Feng Xi by any means necessary.  This rebellion absolutely cannot happen.

So Dong Yue sits in the tavern, disguised as a man, biding her time.  The other men in the tavern are very curious about her, as she looks a little too pretty to be a man.  Dong Yue takes it all in stride, and continues on with her meal.

The dead assassins who attacked Dong Yue and Feng Xi are thrown into the tavern.  The men who were pestering Dong Yue recoil, as the assassins were associated with them.  Feng Xi enters the tavern, looking regal in his navy blue hanfu with embroidered silver birds.  The problematic men stare at him, but he walks by with barely a glance, and takes a seat.  The men follow, and they draw their swords.  Feng Xi's men fly in through the windows and counterattack.  Dong Yue's jade flute begins to play on its own.  Only she and Feng Xi are able to hear it.  She tries to hide, but Feng Xi easily finds her.  She holds a dagger to his throat.  He accuses her of being a spy.  She tells him to instruct his men to aim their crossbows at the door, to attack the Dingyuan duke (another key figure in the rebellion).  She is momentarily distracted, and Feng Xi escapes her grasp.  His guards go after her, and she warns them.  She tells Feng Xi that in a year, he will be 2nd to the Emperor in ranking, but he will die in Li Yuantong's hands at the height of his power.  He snorts derisively, saying he controls his own fate.  He orders his guard, Feng Jing to take her away.  Dong Yue warns Feng Jing that he will die today.  They don't believe her, and Feng Jing continues to take her away. She resists, and Feng Xi stabs her in the heart, thinking that he's taken care of this "treacherous" woman for good.  She falls to the ground, becomes unconscious, and the jade flute plays.  She is carried to the lake and disposed of.  Little do they know, her body is made from Lotus root, and the water not only heals her, it prevents her from dying.  

Just as Dong Yue predicted, Feng Jing is stabbed and killed.  Feng Xi pretends to feel no remorse, as it was done by the men from Duke of Dingyuan's side for political purposes.  He absolutely cannot show any emotions that will be used against him.  He is in reality very upset.  Additionally, he is shocked because Dong Yue's prediction came true.

He stands at the lake, and once again hears the jade flute.  He is extremely taken aback.  The opinions he was initially so arrogant about are beginning to unravel.  Not only that, the woman he killed, her jade flute is playing out of nowhere.  Creeped out, and having a rough night are two major understatements.

Dong Yue suddenly appears behind him, holding a dagger to his throat. "You are alive!" he exclaims.  She points out to him the accuracy of her prediction regarding Feng Jing.  He notices the stab wound that was supposed to kill her has healed quickly.

A flashback of Dong Yue is shown in the mortal realm where it is revealed her lotus root body is connected to the jade flute, and that it will never die.  Even when she is injured, her body will be healed by water.

Feng Xi is immediately interested in working together, due to Dong Yue's accurate knowledge of the future.  Dong Yue is not, and she tries to stab him, but he blocks her.  He says he will pay off the debt he owes her (she can kill him due to his attempt to kill her), but not now.  His men call for him in the distance.  Dong Yue releases her grip on the dagger and walks away.  She has had more than enough shennanigans with Feng Xi today.
