American Perspectives: Prince Bo and Ma Zhaixing's Wedding ("The Wolf" Ep. 48)

Ji Chong meets up with Prince Bo and Ma Zhaixing to air his grievances regarding Princess Bao Na joining his military without him knowing, checking his clothing sizes, and driving him crazy. Prince Bo points out that Princess Bao Na has been going above and beyond by switching out the feed for the horses for something more appropriate.  (So the horses won't get sick).  Because of that Ma Zhaixing and Prince Bo point out she is doing an excellent job as a soldier.  Ji Chong feels embarassed, awkwardly explains his annoyance, and leaves the happy couple to finish their breakfast.

Tensions between Jin and Yang Kingdoms escalate yet again, and to keep Prince Bo from hurting himself further, Ma Zhaixing has him arrested.  While he is locked up, Ma Zhaixing claims to find an antidote to get rid of the poison in Prince Bo's body.  The guards take him out of his cell, and bring him to Ma Zhaixing who is waiting for him, under a tree, wearing a red wedding dress.  She orders them to unlock the shackles and leave.  Prince Bo is looking beautiful in his white Hanfu.

She turns around and faces the Prince.  He smiles at her.  He isn't angry at her for having him arrested.  He knows she doesn't want him dying too soon, but he's also very worried about his younger, adopted brother in the Yang Kingdom, as Chu You Kui is not going to go easy on him.

Ma Zhaixing walks to Prince Bo, takes his hand, and asks, "Do you blame me?" 

He smiles at her, takes her in his arms, and asks, "How would I?  I know you mean well."  He wants to know what happened, why she came here, and why she is wearing a wedding dress.

She responds that their friend Yao Ji found the antidote to his poison, and that today is his day of rebirth.  Prince Bo has suspicions about the effectiveness of the antidote, and if it really is one.

Ma Zhaixing redirects the conversation and tells him she is in a wedding dress, waiting for her loved one to arrive.  She says she feels embarassed, and that he's the one she wants to marry.  She turns to walk away, he does the classic wrist grab seen in many C-Dramas and K-Dramas, and brings her back to him.

He hugs her tightly, and tells her he's so happy.  He never thought they would end up loving each other and growing old together.  After the war is over, Prince Bo plans to have a large public wedding, and then take Ma Zhaixing to Wolf Mountain, where they can live in peace.  Ma Zhaixing begins to feel guilty because she isn't giving him an antidote.  She's giving him a sedative so he won't participate in the war.  Instead, she took the same poison he took to make himself stronger, and she intends to go to the Yang Kingdom to fight Chu You Kui for once and for all.

But Prince Bo does not know this. and he is overjoyed they are finally getting married.  They vow to each other to never be apart again.  They share their wedding day drinks.  Prince Bo embraces her, and Ma Zhaixing cries.  The sedative is contained in her lip rouge, and she has him put it on her lips.  She kisses him, and that is how he consumes the sedative.

Ma Zhaixing begins to speak cryptically about the next life, and confesses about the antidote actually being a sedative.  She plans to die in the war, but wants Prince Bo to live a good life.  He is upset, but quickly losing consciousness.  Ma Zhaixing holds him for just a little longer before setting out to finally resolve the escalating tensions between the Jin and Yang Kingdoms.
