American Perspectives: War with Prince Bo ("The Wolf" Ep.37)

...And now the Jin Kingdom and Yang Kingdom are at war. It was a matter of time for that all to begin. Prince Bo is ready to conquer Boxiang (a town within the Jin Kingdom), Ma Zhaixing is ready to fight back. Unbeknownst to her, he already intentionally had crucial secrets revealed to her. It's because he still feels that he owes her his life due to the assassination of her family. However, there is now more depth to it, as found out that the 4th Prince discovered the 1st Prince died intentionally because of King Yang, and not the Jin Kingdom, that Prince Bo's anger was not only being exploited against Ma Zhaixing, it was also being exploited on behalf of the 1st Prince. His missions to kill weren't for the sake of vindicating the 1st Prince, they were for the sake of King of Yang's political gain.

Therefore, Prince Bo wants Ma Zhaixing to not only kill him, but to win the war and wipe the slate completely clean. At this point, with everything that has happened between Ma Zhaixing and Prince Bo, she is ready to kill him. She and her men shoot him multiple times, and he's happy. He keeps walking into this storm of arrows, happy to be shot. He feels that now, everything will finally be corrected.

But it doesn't quite work out that way. He's too strong to die, he isn't meant to die, and this isn't the way for him to control the bad karma he inflicted on others. Ma Zhaixing enters the battlefield, as she's been shooting above from the watchtower. Prince Bo's men attack her. He hears her bell that she wears around her waist, and has in the past used to call him, and busts through the shields that are protecting him from further harm. Even though Ma Zhaixing is doing a decent job of saving herself, Prince Bo does the right thing and finishes the job. However, Ma Zhaixing is in such a blind rage that she stabs him with an arrow. He willingly accepts it with a smile, and Zhaixing passes out. More of Prince Bo's men try to attack her, but he relentlessly protects her, and takes her away from the battlefield on horseback. His intent is to heal her absolutely before he dies, but she cannot know that he still loves her. She also doesn't want him to know that she still loves him. They are both in a very difficult position where they feel their only option is to hurt each other, instead of to just wipe the slate clean. He feels regret for what he's done, and wants to atone for it. She feels angry, and to some degree confused because she's still in love with him in spite of the unforgiveable act he committed against her family.
 
So, they are temporarily together, but at an impasse.
