This warm and cozy fan art image is from Episode 1 of Empress 기/Ki when 왕유/Wang Yoo is attempting to teach 기승냥/Ki Seung Nyang how to play the Geomungo, and in exchange, she is to teach him to shoot baby arrows, as her skill in archery is exceptional. However, at this point, 왕유 does not know that 기승냥 is a woman. He just assumes that she is a man with criminal tendencies, who needs a little direction. And 기승냥 does not know that he is the crown prince of 고려/Goryeo, who years earlier attempted to release her from the Yuan captors who had taken her and her mother as tributes. Because 기승냥 managed to escape, in order to avoid getting caught and sent away again, she chooses to cross dress and live as a man. Instead, 기승냥 assumes 왕유 is a spoiled rich kid. The dynamic between these two characters is a very warm dynamic, a loyal friendship that later develops into a complicated love. This print is great for adding some warmth to a cold room, some brightness to an unpleasant office cubicle, something to smile about as you log into your home office. (Such as, "Yay! I get to watch Empress Ki when the workday is over today)!
