American Perspectives: Having to Meet Prince Bo Again ("The Wolf" Ep. 30)

The difficult moment when you have to encounter your ex again after a bad break up...I almost certainly don't wish that on anyone.  For Ma Zhaixing, her feelings are especially mixed.  She couldn't get herself to kill one of Prince Bo's spy wolves that were sent to her camp, even though they were out to do harm.  

She and Ji Chong are on their way to the Qitan village, and Ma Zhaixing's biggest supporter, Princess Bao Na, is well aware of the ugly break up.  Because of this, Princess Bao Na also now has an ax to grind with Prince Bo.  (Now that is a great friend).

In order to make things easier and more advantageous for Ma Zhaixing, Princess Bao Na disguises her in servant's clothing.  It works a little too well because while she is waiting for Princess Bao Na, she is mistaken for a servant by the lead servant.  She is promptly chastised for not getting to work, and is sent to Prince Bo's tent to serve him drinks.  (Yikes)!

At this point, the anxiety is kicking in.  Ma Zhaixing is pretty sure Prince Bo knows it's her, and she's right.  But...to anyone outside of their twosome, he doesn't let on.  When Princess Bao Na barges into the tent to find Ma Zhaixing (but to also not make it known that she knows), she asks Prince Bo some loaded questions.  Prince Bo answers them in a way intended to offend Ma Zhaixing. 

The whole moment is just so awkward, and I can feel Ma Zhaixing's anxiety, anger, and discomfort.  I can feel Princess Bao Na's disgust, and her willingness to vindicate on Ma Zhaixing's behalf.  As I said in an earlier entry, it will continue to get way worse before it gets better.  This particular moment is just the beginning of the "way worse."
