And he deserves it! Why? Because he is back to being a dick. He is being a dick because he does not want Ma Zhaixing finding out he assassinated her family, so he is withholding love and affection in the worst possible ways.
So, while they are in the process of travelling back to Ma Zhaixing's hometown, they encounter her friend, Ji Chong. Because Prince Bo is making it a point to not be anywhere near her, he doesn't see them hanging out together until somebody tells him.
He tries to play it cool, but you can tell he's fuming, though he deserves it, because as I said earlier, he's being a dick. And Ji Chong is enjoying every second of it (as he should). Ma Zhaixing is giving Prince Bo her all, and he's acting like a douche bag. While his reasons are understandable, there are other ways of communicating that don't involve him being the worst possible ass hat. Usually, when we have the obligatory male competition, I just want the writers to get it over with and move on. In this case, I am thrilled to pieces that Ji Chong has come along because Prince Bo needs that kick in the butt, a reminder that being a douche bag has major consequences. So, yeah, when Ji Chong entered the scene, I was definitely jumping for joy, and not just because he's being played by Xiao Zhan (though that is most certainly a plus). Someone needs to give Prince Bo a run for his money, and a reminder that he can't turn feelings (his and Ma Zhaixing's) on and off without consequence.
