I really like Unchained Love, and I especially enjoyed seeing 王鹤棣/Dylan Wang, as I had not been familiar with him before. You're probably thinking I had been hiding under a rock. Well, sort of. I tend to exclusively watch the 사극, but I decided to go "on the dark side," and give this show a try. I really enjoyed the first 34 episodes. Episodes 35 and the final episode 36 really started to lag. It didn't even bother me that the focus of the show shifted from a fake eunuch's revenge story to a Eunuch and Concubine in love. I did not care about that at all, and in fact, I enjoyed that. I also didn't care that Yinlou didn't have hostile feelings for her father on execution day, or that Xiao Duo wasn't the one who killed him. That didn't bother me, because realistically, that would've gotten as tangled up as the romance between Belle and Rumplestiltskin on "Once Upon A Time," (and the attempted untangling of that was just atrocious. The writers went too far with that on "Once Upon A Time," and there was seriously no coming back, but I digress).
That ending, though, was really, really disappointing. It was like: "And?" "You ran away, and?" It just felt like it had been pasted on with minimal thought. There are rumors of a Season 2, but as much as I liked the other episodes, I don't want a Season 2. After watching K-Dramas, I really don't like multiple season shows. Multiple season shows tend to be synomous with complacency and mediocrity. "The Bernie Mac Show," is a great example of this. Season 1 was hillarious, and every season after that only elicited a courtesy chuckle or two from me. So, with multiple seasons: Just say no! I don't even want a Season 2 of Scarlet Heart: Ryeo. Basically, with the end of Scarlet Heart, I felt the lesson learned was to not listen to the malicious gossip of your peers, and to trust the one you love, and 해수 royally screwed up. Her consequence was: she lost the love of her life. Nonetheless, here are some pictures I found from Pinterst representing "Unchained Love."
I will say the clothing design is fantastic! I kind of want to re-create this outfit, but make it wearable for modern use.
I think Yuwen Liangxi is absolutely adorable. He reminds me of 한성 in 화랑.
